Creativity at work…

Happy Holidays from way south of the border! Hope it is snowing where you are to get you in Christmas mood! This past week I took my scholarship girls to a camp put on by the PCV scholarship committee called WYD. This was the second camp for the year for the scholarship recipients. While the first camp focused on professional development (leadership, resumes, interviews, time-management skills, achieving your goals…) last week’s second camp focused on creative development (drawing, acting, performing, cultural awareness…) This was the first camp of its kind and it was a huge success! The girls loved the hands-on aspect, and I think they appreciated the chance to escape long presentations and note-taking. Though the other camp and its information is extremely important, I think they found the arts and crafts more engaging than the how-to-interview-well workshop. :) Here are a few pictures….

Making art work...

Drawing classes...

Drawing classes...

Boat tour of the lake adjacent to the town...

Visiting historical sites in the area and learning about the civil war...

Art gallery tour and talking with the artists...

Arts and crafts...

Jewelery making...

Acting activities and performing skits...

Camp graduation and handing out diplomas...

All in all a fun and educational opportunity for both the scholarship recipients and the volunteers!
